I’ve been sitting on this for MONTHS because we’re building a house and I’m a wedding photographer in the thick of wedding season thanks to Rona, but today’s the day! It’s actually the perfect time because Black Friday deals are HERE! A good amount of my products are from Beautycounter and they’re currently having a 15% off of EVERYTHING sale! It’s rare that they have a sale like this, so snatch it up!
I’m also a Beautycounter consultant because I love their products THAT much, but you don’t have to shop with me if you don’t want to! Beautycounter isn’t one of those sketchy MLM companies like Lularoe, and I don’t sell this stuff out of my trunk 😂. You can actually shop their products directly on their website without me or at Sephora!
This topic really needs its own blog post, but in short– most beauty products on the market right now are full of chemicals that are harmful to your body. Your skin is a sponge, so when you put those on your body they sink in. Now, if you’re thinking “no way! our skin is a barrier and protector!” You are right–sort of. If a particle is too big to go through our skin it will not soak in (Gluten, for example is too big to pass through your skin). But many particles are small enough to make it through our skin barrier. If this weren’t true Fentanyl patches, estrogen creams, and other transdermal medications would be useless and nonexistent. Also think about products that go on your lips and eyes. You will eat whatever you put on your lips and some of your mascara will end up in your eyeballs.
So if you’re switching from conventional makeup to nontoxic makeup I would start with the things that are on your eyes and lips. Check all of your products on the EWG app or the Think Dirty App and see how badly they score. Replace the products that score 4 or greater first!
I thought I had combination skin, but I found out that I just had dry skin that was overproducing oil in my T zone. I started using my skincare routine (linked here) and it solved my oily issues and hydrated my skin. It is so soft now!
Moonvalley Organics Lip Balm: Sweet Honey
I Use this lip balm EVERY DAY and it is so moisturizing. Some lip balms actually dry my lips out, but I’ve never had a problem with this. I also love the vanilla scent! I always start my routine with lip balm.
